Närcon 2014 report 1: Cosplay!

Man, Närcon. There's so many things I want to write about I don't even know where to start, and even more photos - just spent the whole morning editing them, so let's just get straight to the point, dem photos. I'll be making several posts about Närcon 2014 cosplay and lolita, so stay tuned!

If you see a photo of yourself feel free to use it as you like, but please credit me and include a link to the blog entry you got it from.

To begin with: the weather. Holy shit. We came from Iceland and nobody had considered us when they booked the weather for the weekend! Our request for an extra hour in the ice pit was taken as a joke! I WANT MY MONEY BACK (not that I actually paid anything to get in the con because staff gets in for free BUT I STILL WANT MY MONEY BACK).

The Icelandic team crashed several times because of the heat but more about that later on.

An amazing Corvo Attano from Dishonored.

Don't scroll past. You know what's gonna happen to you if you do.

Another angel-angle for the wings. The weeping angels got to be the most frightening Doc Who creatures to me. ;^;

DICK IN A BOX :D

They gave me a banana from, eh, a box. That's all I'm gonna say about it.

A brilliant Boa Hancock, One Piece. Btw if you see photos that are clearly cropped real narrow it's happened because there's something in the side of the picture I didn't want to include, usually trashcans, rubbish lying around on the ground, random photobombers (guys, 99% of the times it's not funny, the only exception was Khal Drogo who was pretty hilarious and will be included).

Aaaaaaah she looked down on me! The happiest moment of my life!

A lonely cutie we randomly found and took photos of. Bet you didn't know one of us was actually another Journey peep (Snu who represented Iceland in the competition - photos of his costume in a later entry)! :D

A very nice Satsuki from Kill la Kill. There were fewer KLK cosplays than I was hoping for, the weather would have been ideal and all... but at least the few I saw were all awesome. :3

More Dishonored and Dishonored is awesome: Empress Jessamine Kaldwin and her loyal bodyguard Corvo from the, eh, happier times.

I was picking my jaw from the ground for a while after seeing this pirate!UK.

On occasion I took photos of costumes that I didn't personally recognize, but felt they were too awesome to not to photograph. If anyone can help me out with these unknown ones I'll be eternally grateful!

EDIT: Kayle from League of Legends and Kick-ass from Kick-ass, thank you so much Avina Lana Rose!

More among my favourite anime: San from Mononoke Hime.

Nayko from Judecca.

Detail shot.

A nice selection of Game of Thrones was present: starting with the Targaryen siblings Viserys and Daenerys.

A slightly different combo, this time Daenerys with a Cersei.

This photo happened accidentally but it turned out to be one of those lucky accidents: it's like they're each plotting for the other's death. :DDD

Mononoke tends to always make a con experience perfect for me, especially the dream-level of the above.

Detail shot of Noppera Bou.

The backpack had real drawers!

Detail shot of Kusuri-uri.

Margaery Tyrell, I'm so happy we went to the shadow of the tree because those shadows and spots of light really do justice to the cosplay!

Gaara from Naruto - there was apparently a Naruto meet-up at some point of the convention so there were so many cosplays from the series that I thought for a moment that I had gone back in time for about five years. :D

A brilliant Atlantis group!

I hereby declare myself a fangirl of whoever this just-chillin-w-my-melon Gandalf was. :D

Ending the first post with a great Taokaka from Blazblue. (This cosplay is still on my list of want-to-dos...)

The next part is soon to come!

  1. The cosplays you weren't sure about are from I believe League of Legends and Kickass.

  2. Wow! I was actually that lonely cutie traveler ;3 I yelled "senpai" when I saw your friend on stage last year, during the competition. Hehe.
