The summer slipped away; welcome autumn.

I realized that I've got plenty of photos I haven't put here yet ranging from the end of summer to the beginning of autumn, so here we go. Starting with puffin elegance because yes I've made these puffin hairclips in all possible colours.

Hveragerði's ice cream day casual coord. Except that when we got there it was so windy that my hairstyle was immediately torn to pieces and it was pure luck I didn't lose the poor puffin. ;^;

We also had our first autumn storm which was a bit surprising because they usually hit us in October. I went to walk in it for fun because I have a weird idea of what constitutes as fun.

Hair art by the SO. Not sure whether to call it a heart or a certain part of male anatomy. :D

More food news from Reykjavík: there's a donut stall on the side of Ingólfstorg that sells mini donuts. Super yummy!

Best part of autumn: layers and layers of sweaters and scarves.

I think the shoulder thingy (scarf? cape? shoulder-ette?) is crocheted by either my mother or my grandmother. It's cute and warm. :3

Naturally the drunk-knit bubble sweater has been dug out a long time ago, the first cold day in fact. I missed it! Btw new shoes - well, new from a flea market -new.

Hoping you too will have a warm autumn and chai tea, cinnamon coffee, hot toddies and mulled wine and oh, isn't it soon time to prepare for Kekri/Halloween...?

Pippilotta Viktualia Rullgardina aaaahIforgottherest Långstrump, sun and ice lollies.

Heh, like mentioned yesterday: some days are just plain cold but the ones in between them may well be sunny and warm. These photos are actually one day older than yesterday's. :D

Regardless, it's finally time to pack away my winter kimono and bring out the yukata. The only problem is that although it's warm, Breiðholt is always super windy, being atop a tall hill and near the sea. I'm battling this with a summerjuban underneath the yukata. While the yukata is usually worn without one it's ok to wear a juban if it's necessary, but it turns the look automatically a notch more formal, so I decided to go with an obi that's on par with that.

Also time to start wearing my favourite geta. :3

I bought these years ago from Kyoto and ever since getting them out of the storage in the spring has been The Sign of summer to me. Now to bear with a blister or two between the toes before my feet once again get used to the idea...

A close-up.

This is me outside reading Lína Langsokkur (= Pippi Långstrump in Icelandic) and eating a self made ice lolly. This is also a photo I had no idea of until I uploaded them all on to my computer. Someone, and I'm not naming names but bf may be the number one suspect, sneaked a photo of me.
PAPARAZZI EVERYWHERE

Btw here's my favourite ice lolly "recipe":

- berries or fruit
- juice to taste
- Moomin moulds

Skip any one of those three and the quality of the taste won't be the same, yes yes. *nod nod*

My 1st of May, picnic at home.

A bit late, but here's my 1st of May coord. I promise I'll be taking a break from the wa-stuff SOON, so sorry that there's been a mini flood of the stuff here recently!

A 1st of May picnic is a tradition in Finland but alas, not in Iceland. I've missed it for two years already so this time I decided to change things around: if there is no picnic party I will make myself one! And so I did. It was quite pleasant, the morning was cool and sunny and very calm, occasional seagulls flying around (probably eyeing my foods, those rascals) and the neighbour's cat stopping by.

Here's the foods: chicken-potato-cashew curry with coconut, mini donuts, a melon, apple cider (non-alcoholic: I had an exam right in the following day) and coffee (not in the photo because it would have cooled down before I got through all the above). :D~

That curry actually deserves a photo of its own. This is what my curry tends to look like - a LOT of ingredients, comparatively small amount of sauce. Even if I say so myself it was yuuummyyyy.

Toast!
(Note the slippers.)

Same basic items, different accessories.

Going through some old entries made me happen across a meme that I had abandoned halfway. While this is not unusual by any means - any meme to wander to my direction better prepare its heart because I'll dump it before we're even through - one challenge in it caught my eye. Create two completely different looks around the same main items.

I attempted three and a half but you know, I felt like that old lonely meme deserved at least a pat on the head.

Onward!

The two main items are a vintage shirt and a selfmade skirt, plus a set of lace tights I may have bought from Gina Tricot if memory serves. The first coord is classic lolita.

Pullover: offbrand
Shoes: Dinsko
Necklace: vintage
Hair accessories: selfmade

Second: mori rori (sry I could NOT stop myself ok).

Lace tunic: selfmade
Shoes: offbrand
Lace collar that's seen in the first photo: vintage
Socks: offbrand
Ring: vintage
Hair accessories: selfmade

Third, and the most ambitious coord: wa-lolita.

Obi: selfmade
Obiage: selfmade
Shoes: offbrand
Hair accessories: selfmade

And then the half coord. It's still the wa-lolita one with some further additions.

Everything's same as in the previous one except

Zori: offbrand
Haori: vintage

Three pairs of zori.

Hello hello! Long time no see!

I recently traveled to Finland and spent a while there, attending a wedding and getting caught by the worst rainstorm ever, managing the dangerous task of feeding a bunny (several times - and I still have all the digits I'm supposed to!) and getting lulzy threats from a group of teenagers. Usual stuff as you can see. Then I came back to Iceland and so far I have for example been to a local flea market.

Yes, the zori of the top photo are all from there. IDK who or why they were thrown away (Red Cross store only sells donated stuff) but clearly the salespeople did not quite know what they were, since they were sold at 300kr a pair. That's about 2E to you europeeps. They're all used but the condition of them all is good. No scratches, no stains, no flaws what so ever!

Side view of the red ones. These are my favourite pair of them.

It's always such an awkward feeling when one finds something awesome for a cheap price at the flea market.  Trying to keep a straight face at the cashier is almost impossible.

Both these pink ones are also really cute! I am somewhat tempted to just post notes on Icelandic discussion boards about these zori although maybe not - the previous owner might not want the attention. Still, mightily curious am I.

Trying on a yukata.

Sssso, I now have a yukata and a hanhaba obi and therefore I needed to try them out. Naturally. This time I also saw some trouble for my hair and the lovely geta I bought from Kyoto years ago got more action too.

The ohashori is not actually crooked, the white side of the obi is playing some optical illusory stuff there. Nevermind my face: I'm not actually sad and disappoint, it's just that my face is emo by default.

A better and worse photo. Better because it shows the whole outfit in more detail but worse because seriously, a bush of lilacs as a background vs. a couple of chairs? Yeah.
(Although they're very pretty chairs.)

Dat obi again. The print of the yukata might be easiest to see in this one.

My hair - nothing complicated going on there but I thought it ended up ok-ish.

Love them geta!

Random outfit.

Nothing brand here, two new shirts though. Both bought from a fleamarket in Finland. Plus my getas that are the bestest summer things ever.

Shirt details. I looove see-through fabrics!

Getas again, note the unusual shape of the heel. I bought these years ago in Kyoto.

And what's that on my leg, ooh! Alas it's not a tattoo because OMG that would be, like, the cutest tattoo ever.
