The summer slipped away; welcome autumn.
I realized that I've got plenty of photos I haven't put here yet ranging from the end of summer to the beginning of autumn, so here we go. Starting with puffin elegance because yes I've made these puffin hairclips in all possible colours.
Hveragerði's ice cream day casual coord. Except that when we got there it was so windy that my hairstyle was immediately torn to pieces and it was pure luck I didn't lose the poor puffin. ;^;
We also had our first autumn storm which was a bit surprising because they usually hit us in October. I went to walk in it for fun because I have a weird idea of what constitutes as fun.
Hair art by the SO. Not sure whether to call it a heart or a certain part of male anatomy. :D
More food news from Reykjavík: there's a donut stall on the side of Ingólfstorg that sells mini donuts. Super yummy!
Best part of autumn: layers and layers of sweaters and scarves.
I think the shoulder thingy (scarf? cape? shoulder-ette?) is crocheted by either my mother or my grandmother. It's cute and warm. :3
Naturally the drunk-knit bubble sweater has been dug out a long time ago, the first cold day in fact. I missed it! Btw new shoes - well, new from a flea market -new.
Hoping you too will have a warm autumn and chai tea, cinnamon coffee, hot toddies and mulled wine and oh, isn't it soon time to prepare for Kekri/Halloween...?

Today's coord.
Just a couple of photos of what I wore today. Otome-ish if I had to pick a style for it, plus admire my brand new Snufkin cardigan that was a Bobmas present from a certain Godofmustard. It's seriously the most epic of all the epic cardigans. :3
Detail shot for the collar, realized my hair was successfully covering it in the upper two photos.

A random outfit - otome? Mori?
Autumn colours and a huge sweater, new shoes (well, freshly bought from a flea market anyway), the puffin hat is a bonus. :3

Today I'm copying Rinna's style.
It all started with the hairbun. Then I went to Rinna's blog to seek ideas on how to coord my hairstyle - yes I have problems like this sometimes: I have my hair on what else do I need? :D
I'm not actually dying of boredom or deeply depressed, I'm trying to put on an artsy face+pose. Yes.
Outfit rundown:
Dress, lace collar, shoes: vintage
Hair accessories: selfmade
All else: offbrand
And because this is a Rinna appreciation outfit I'd like to point out the lace collar is handmade (crocheted).

An all teal day.
Next up - the teal dress. I absolutely love it and I found out I had a perfect colour match for it in my shoe collection.
Going outside of course meant an added cardigan...
And hair! All my hairstyles nowadays are plaits attached to my head with pins. Looks impressive, is quick and easy to make.
I also re-did my nails. I really love this effect so I bought orange and black nailpolish to do a proper koi/goldfish patterns for the next round.

Flea market finds in action part 2.
The chiffon tunic goes next. As you can see I still haven't bothered to move that wheelbarrow, sryboutthat. Also I now notice you can see preciously little of the tunic from underneath the cardigan. ORZ

The fleamarket finds in action part 1!
Naturally I've immediately began to wear everything I bought on Sunday. This means that indeed I've worn them all already - although wearing the teal dress to raking grass was, on hindsight, possibly a bit disrespectful to the cuteness of the dress. I would do it again, mind, especially if the day was hot, because it's so airy and cotton is the best thing to have while working outside, an added plus for style (who wants to rake grass in anything but their best look, I ASK YOU)(no one, that's the correct answer!).
Anyway a cotton dress is easy to wash.
The sleeveless shirt, however, will be guarded against sweat somewhat fiercely because don't we all know what'll happen to the underarms if I don't. Lucky me Icelandic summer poses very few threats of sweating (or feeling warm, for that matter) but I'm still going to be caaaaareful with it.
(The wheelbarrow is, for now, an added item in these photos, at least until I can call up the energy to move it down one flight of stairs and up another one.)

Some otome/mori/whatisthiseven this time.
I'm not dancing, just making an awkward pose trying to show off the heels of these shoes because they are brilliant. :3
I keep thinking of mowing the lawn but somehow when the weather is nice I never do. Instead I waste the whole day away if at all possible, doing very little besides writing and searching for material for the BA thesis whatchamacallitinenglish thingy. Then those days go past and it's a fact that there's no point in mowing the lawn when it rains.
JSK, skirt, hairclip: selfmade
Shoes, hat: offbrand and idk I've walked the logo off the soles and now I don't know! :(

Triple-plait hair tutorial for otome, mori, lolita etc.
I made a quick tuto for a simple, yet impressive looking hairstyle. It works even better if your hair's a bit longer than mine.
1. Divide your hair into two sections. Separate a small section of hair on the other side from behind the ear and make a small plait.
2. Plait the rest of the hair as shown. As you can see my plaits are a bit loose but tight plaits work just as well.
3.& 4. Attach all three plaits over or on top of your head (depending on how long the plaits are) with bobby pins. You can try to tuck the ends of the plaits under each other, it makes the whole do look neater.
5. Decorate!

Knitting meet-up dress.
Here's what I wore to the knitting club meet yesterday. I do love this dress a lot, so imagine the scare I had when it felt unusually tight around the waist... but luckily this time it was just the bottom layer of fabric being bunched up that was getting in the way instead of my belly fats.
Onward for some goofing around for the cam -photos.
*spin*
wheee~
I do need a hat pin or some other way of fastening it to my head though.
Close-up of the hairstyle. It's just two plaits, teased fluffy, but despite the simpleness I like the look a lot.
Outfit rundown:
Dress: Gunne Sax
Shoes: vintage
Everything else: offbrand

Just a daily look.
(That little doodle is an accurate depiction of how my face looked in the photo. No, you'll never see the original for as long as I live and a note to self, always take more than one photo. ALWAYS.)
I have recently learned that what looks ok on the tiny screen of a camera might actually be the derpiest, hurrdurriest thing you've ever seen. Anyway, an Iceland-suitable summer dress outfit would consist of:
- a long skirt
- lots of layers; you can wear fairly thin fabrics if you layer them
- long sleeves
- a cardigan that's actually warm
- waterproof shoes
A suitable hairstyle is anything that would still look ok-ish after walking through a car wash a surprise storm. Downtown is a bit easier since you can always just pop in a cafe to take shelter and warm yourself, there's lots of cute little cafes everywhere and they're often open long hours during the summer.
Haha who am I kidding, I wore a huge Icelandic sweater over this coord anyway. :D

A fun hairstyle.
Warm days, cold days. Right now it's almost impossible to figure out which one you'll have the next day. There's been days when the weather is T-shirt toasty and others that, as shown above, demand a wool coat, sweater and a scarf.
Here's that hairstyle again. It's a bit messy, apologies - as you see in the first photos the wind had a go at it.
Side view. The band of roses in the back is a separate piece and only used as decoration. It's the more simple band underneath it that's doing all the work.
You can create this style with a very simple hairband as well. Just put it around your head and start tucking your hair underneath it in sections starting from the front, attach with pins when needed.
When done decorate to taste!
Edit: OH HAY I FOUND A TUTORIAL WITH GOOD PHOTOS:

Layers, I loooove layers!
I had a bit of a mori-esque day. That hairstyle's super easy to make by the way: just divide your hair in two, make two plaits and attach them right behind the fringe. Then hide the ends with a rose band or what have you.
Apologies for the huge photos. Naaah kidding, I don't regret a thing! Everything I wear is more or less a second-hand find so alas, once again I cannot make an outfit rundown.
